Tempur-Pedic mattresses should not be used with bunkie boards, plywood or untreated wood surfaces, traditional box springs, Sealy® and Stearns & Foster® foundations, or placed directly on the floor. These options do not provide the solid, flat support required for proper mattress performance. Approved foundations, adjustable power bases, or platform bed frames meeting Tempur-Pedic support requirements are necessary.
The following support systems are not approved for use with Tempur-Pedic mattresses:
Bunkie Boards
Bunkie boards are not an approved support system for Tempur-Pedic mattresses.
Plywood or Untreated Wood Surfaces
Plywood, untreated wood, or other makeshift support surfaces are not approved and may not provide adequate long-term support.
Box Springs
Traditional box springs are not approved for use with Tempur-Pedic mattresses. The flexible construction of a box spring does not provide the solid, flat support required for proper mattress performance.
Sealy® and Stearns & Foster® Foundations
Although these foundations are designed for Sealy and Stearns & Foster mattresses, they are not approved for Tempur-Pedic mattresses. Their top surface utilizes a grid-style construction similar to a box spring and does not provide the solid, flat support surface required by Tempur-Pedic mattresses.
Mattress Placed Directly on the Floor
Tempur-Pedic mattresses should not be used directly on the floor. Mattresses must be supported by an approved foundation, adjustable power base, or platform bed frame that meets Tempur-Pedic support requirements.
