Customer Scenarios for Proof of Purchase Requirements – Service Help Center

Warranty claims require proof of purchase to verify coverage details such as purchase date, original purchaser, retailer, product eligibility, and purchase amount. If the original receipt is lost, a bank or financing statement showing purchaser name, purchase date, retailer, and amount may be accepted. Product registration alone does not suffice without a receipt. Purchases from Tempur-Pedic directly usually don't need a receipt, but third-party retailer purchases always require proof. Without valid proof, warranty claims cannot be processed.

Purpose

Warranty claims require proof of purchase so we can verify important coverage details, including:

Warranty coverage period
Original purchaser
Authorized point of purchase
Product eligibility
Whether the product was sold as a floor model, demo, closeout, or second-hand item
Purchase amount
Country of purchase

Without valid proof of purchase, we are unable to complete a full warranty review or determine warranty eligibility.

What if I can't locate my original purchase receipt?

If the customer no longer has their original purchase receipt, we may accept a bank statement or financing statement as an alternative form of proof of purchase.

The document must clearly show:

Original purchaser's name
Full purchase date (MM/DD/YYYY)
Retailer or place of purchase
Total purchase amount

If the statement does not contain this information, additional documentation may be required.

My retailer closed, I moved, or I lost my receipt

If a customer cannot locate their receipt for any reason, we may accept a bank statement or financing statement that meets the requirements above.

Proof of purchase is still required because it allows us to verify:

Purchase date
Warranty coverage eligibility
Authorized retailer status
Original purchaser information
Product type and pricing
Whether the product was purchased as a floor model, demo, closeout, or second-hand item

Without one of these purchase documents, we cannot proceed with a warranty claim review.

I paid cash and no longer have my receipt

Unfortunately, a proof-of-purchase document is still required to file a warranty claim.

If the original receipt is unavailable and no bank statement, financing statement, or other purchase documentation exists, we are unable to verify warranty eligibility and cannot proceed with the claim.

Customers may wish to contact the original retailer to determine whether a receipt copy or purchase record can be provided.

I registered my product but do not have my receipt

Product registration only satisfies the proof-of-purchase requirement if the customer uploaded their purchase receipt during registration.

If no receipt was uploaded during registration, registration alone does not provide enough information to verify:

Purchase date
Coverage period
Retailer information
Product purchase details

In these situations, the customer must provide a purchase receipt, bank statement, financing statement, or other acceptable proof of purchase.

I bought directly from Tempur-Pedic

If the product was purchased directly through:

The customer typically does not need to provide a purchase receipt because the purchase record can be located in our system.

Important

Customers frequently indicate "Tempur-Pedic Flagship Store" as the place of purchase when the product was actually purchased from an authorized retailer.

Before advising a customer that a receipt is not required, always verify the actual place of purchase.

We do not have access to purchase records from third-party retailers. If the product was purchased through a retailer, the customer must provide their own proof of purchase regardless of product registration status.

I only have a bank statement

A bank statement may be accepted if it contains:

Original purchaser's name
Full purchase date (MM/DD/YYYY)
Retailer or place of purchase
Total purchase amount

If the statement does not contain enough information to verify the purchase, additional documentation may be needed.
